Chapter 117: Sweet Dreams

I brought Suo a short walk from the station in Shimokita.
"School?"
"Yes. I just wanted to bring you here for a bit."
I greets the guard at the main gate of the school and he let us in.
"Face pass? What do you mean? Could it be that this school belongs to Kanata?"
"Yes. I'm the owner."
"I see. So this is the elite yankee school in Japan that we often see in manga .... I see. Interesting. The jerseys sure look good on you!"
"I didn't raise them that way!"
Suo is smiling, but I don't want her to get the wrong idea. I didn't taking over it to be antisocial!
"This school was in financial crisis. So I bought it. But I'm not the director. Ayashiro is."
"What? Himena?"
"Ayashiro helped me a lot the other day. She begged me to return the favor. I really think she's a little devil."
Ayashiro said that one of her dreams for a long time was to found her own school. She told me that and then begged me while stroking my chest with her index finger, I couldn't say no. We arrived at the schoolyard. The school building is covered with sheets and is currently undergoing renovation. I did the design of this place while consulting with Tsukasa.
"Suo. We didn't end up the game, did we?"
"Well. But I'm really glad I didn't kill Kanata."
"That's it! Why are you assuming that I can never beat Suo? I'm not really satisfied with that!"
I opened the storage room at the end of the schoolyard, took out a base and a line puller from inside, and drew baseball baselines on the schoolyard.
"Baseball?"
"Oh, yeah. Suo certainly excels in combat. She has tremendous athletic ability. Then let's settle this in a peaceful sporting manner!"
"Oh, so you mean ... the male mind is quite troublesome."
Suo muttered with somewhat distant eyes. You're a hostess, so I'm sure you know all about the childishness of men. I am one of those men. Even if I had done it like that, I would have won for sure. I'm going to prove it now!
"But baseball. I've never played baseball before."
"Heh. I don't mind playing other sports."
"I'm fine with that. I've never played sports in general to begin with. Besides, Ricardo plays baseball. I've been to the cheerleading squad many times, so I know what the rules are."
Suo is swinging her bat around. She is not so well, and she seems to be slow on her feet, but it is strange because it makes her look kind of cute.
"Oh, so your brother plays baseball. Maybe I'm biased, but he don't play soccer?"
"I would never let Ricardo play soccer! I swore to God when I saw all those bad men in the favela playing soccer instead of working!"
It seems that the soccer situation for Brazilians is quite complicated.
"Well, however, there are only two of us, so let's simply decide the rules by batting."
"Yes! I want to pitch! I want to pitch, and so does Ricardo."
Suo's eyes lit up and she took her glove. I take the remaining bat.
"To the left, that it is. Well, I'll show you how great my vat is. Ha!"
Suo stands on the mound and sets up her glove.
"Let's go, Kanata!"
"Heeey! Heeey! Come on!
I'm going to hit a home run here and show Suo how great I am! With this thought in mind, I held up the bat. Suo smiled and waved her hands in the air. A clumsy, awkward, girlish throw. It's a throw that would surely be a lot of fun at a first pitch ceremony. But I'm not a grown-up, so I'll throw any ball into the stands.
"Aha!"
Suo threw the ball with a cute voice. I thought it was fluffy and cute anyway.
----- and I regretted my choice.
The moment the ball left Suo's hand, it was out of sight. And when I came to, I heard a thud from the wire mesh behind me. The ball had sunk into the wire mesh. And it hadn't stopped spinning yet. I looked at it and shuddered.
"Hmm. A last-minute ball. That's not so easy."
Was that a ball? I didn't see it in the first place! This is bad! It's so bad! How can you throw such a super stiff fastball from a girl with no power?!
"S-Suo! You're straining a little too much! You can relax, relax!"
I said to slow her down a little.
"Hmm? I see. Thanks for the advice. Let's go!"
Suo swung again with her squishy pitching technique, but as usual, the ball disappeared the moment it left her hand. I concentrated all my attention and used my dynamic vision to the limit, and finally caught sight of the ball.
"In the middle of nowhere? Whoa!"
I swung as hard as I could at the super fastball. The moment the ball hit the bat, I felt a numbness in my hands that I had never felt before. It was as if I had hit the ground! But I wouldn't be defeated!
"Aaaaahhhh! Hmph!!!!"
I swung the bat through the air. The ball then rolled toward Suo's feet with a roll. I looked closer and saw that the ball had a crack in it and the bat was dented. But a hit is still a hit. I was determined not to lose. I immediately run toward first base.
"Ahaha! Can you touch me from there?"
I feel like it's extremely unfair, but I still want to win! I can't be a boy if I keep losing to girls.
"Oops! Kanata! I'm pretty quick on my feet!"
Suo starts running towards me. That was seriously fast.
"Gyaaaaah! What a mess, huh!"
"Aha! I'm definitely going to stab you! Ahahaha!"
Suo's legs were absurdly fast as she chased after me. In no time at all, she was behind my back. But I wouldn't be beaten! I accelerated even faster with my guts and passed over first base ... without stepping on it.
"Ah? I missed stepping on it!"
"Aha! Wait! Ahaha!"
And Suo jumps on my back. I was off balance, but I carried Suo properly on my back so that I wouldn't drop her.
"I've got you! Chuuu."
Suo kissed my cheek. Remembering that soft and pleasant feeling. What the hell, I realized, a man can't win against a woman anyway. The victory was my overwhelming defeat.
I walk through the school building with Suo on my back.
"Hey, what kind of education does Himena want to give to the kids here?"
"Ayashiro wants to do something similar to what she did with the children of foreign workers the other day, school by school."
"I see. That was a very good one. Ricardo got a good score on his next test."
Suo said, rubbing her cheek against my cheek.
"Our position is precarious. We can't help the legal issues, but the language and cultural barriers divide us and make us feel lonely."
Living a normal life is very difficult for them. Ayashiro said there are many cases of people who came to Japan at an early age and grew up here, but are not accepted into Japanese society and are isolated.
"Himena has really embraced us in. She's like Maria."
"She's usually a delightful guy. She's a really sweet girl."
As we passed by the music room, Suo got off my back.
"I just saw the piano."
"Do you want to come in?"
Suo nodded. We entered the music room. Suo was happily stroking the piano.
"I saw a piano on TV a long time ago, and I was fascinated by it. But I don't have the money to buy such a thing in my favela."
"Would you like to try it?"
Suo shakes her head. She laughed sadly.
"This piano belongs to the students of this school. I can't touch it."
Suo and I sat leaning against the wall under the blackboard. Suo put her head toward me.
"I can't go here now that I'm an adult. But I can imagine it. I'm here, Himena is here, and Kanata is here too. How fun those days would be..."
I try to imagine it too. Days when we all wear the same uniform and go to the same school. Every day would be like a fun carnival.
"Yes, that's right. I'm sure those days will be fun. But they'll be fun days from now on, too, because we're all together now."
Suo leans into me without saying a word. Her hand touches my cheek and strokes it gently, yet fiercely, as if she wants something from me. Then Suo and my lips meet.
"Someday, give me a kiss that's even sweeter, more intense, and most of all, more fun than today ... promise me."
"Yeah, sure. I promise. Yeah. I want you to promise me something, too."
"What?"
"You should come to the Imperial University, too. You're good at studying, right? If you want to launch your dream motorcycle brand, it would definitely be better to study engineering at the university."
Suo hears this and smiles cheerfully.
"Yes, that's right. That would be a fun dream too."
We snap our fingers. The promise was faintly and gently illuminated only by the moonlight streaming in through the window.

"This is what corruption looks like in this country."
"Cashew juice?"
"Your hip wiggling lacks saudade!"
"It is vice that flourishes. There is no mercy or prayer there."
"How can you kill children with impunity!"
"Are there men all over the place with their tops off?"
"Carnival is a dream for a night. A dream in which those who are normally in the dark can shine in the light."
"That's why it's written on the flag."
"I will be king and bring order and progress to the land."
"No. Your order and progress is lacking."

***Author's musings***
Is it an elite anti-corporate training institute?
By the way, Ayashiro is set up as a saintly character.
Her enthusiasm for educating children is a sign of that aspect.
The preview is like that. Please read it as if it were a movie. I don't know if this line will actually be used, but I think I was able to create an atmosphere.
Thank you for your continued support for this work.
I would appreciate it if you could give me star or follow me if possible.
Also, I'd like to give Yuzuriha her first part-time job. What kind of part-time job would you recommend if she's going to give up her part-time virginity?
